A journey defined by service
Raised in Houston's Carverdale neighborhood, learning hard work, responsibility, faith, and community.
Enrolled at Lone Star College–CyFair after a career transition, balancing work and coursework as an adult learner.
Earned an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting — a milestone she calls transformational.
Elected to represent District 3 on the Lone Star College System Board of Trustees.
Serves as Board Secretary; chairs the Grievance Committee; contributes to the Chancellor Goals & Evaluation Committee.
Appointed to the ACCT Governance & Bylaws Committee, representing Lone Star College nationally.
Pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing & Trades Management, expected May 2027.
Leadership often begins long before someone holds public office. For Trustee Iesheia Ayers-Wilson, it began in Houston's Carverdale neighborhood, where the values of hard work, responsibility, faith, and community shaped a lifelong commitment to helping others.
Her path through higher education was not traditional. After a career transition, she enrolled at Lone Star College–CyFair determined to build new opportunities for herself and her family — balancing work, personal responsibilities, and coursework the way many community college students do.
In 2019, she earned her Associate of Applied Science in Accounting.
Rather than treating graduation as a finish line, she continued her education and is now pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing, and Trades Management — bringing the perspective of both graduate and current student to higher education governance.
Inspired by the opportunities Lone Star College created in her own life, Iesheia sought to give back through public service. Elected in 2020 to represent District 3, she has since served as Board Secretary, chaired the Grievance Committee, and served on the Chancellor Goals & Evaluation Committee — contributing to responsible governance and long-term institutional planning.
Her leadership has included recommending an increase to the College System's homestead tax exemption, supporting student mental health initiatives, and serving as a lead trustee during the search that resulted in the appointment of the institution's first Hispanic Chancellor. She was subsequently appointed to the Association of Community College Trustees Governance & Bylaws Committee, representing Lone Star College nationally.
Outside the boardroom, Iesheia is the founder of IAW Enterprise, providing financial coaching and student loan guidance to individuals seeking greater financial stability, and she remains active in the Carverdale community through volunteer initiatives, educational outreach, and neighborhood partnerships.
